Who is Unico?

A Canadian company built on Mediterranean flavour

Unico is a leading Canadian marketer and distributor of Mediterranean foods. From our home in Concord, Ontario, we bring more than 160 products — pasta, tomatoes and sauces, oils, olives, beans, fish and more — to kitchens from coast to coast, with one promise: a full Mediterranean meal solution, made with high-quality ingredients.

Our story

Over a century of bringing real taste home

1917

Unico is founded in Toronto by Edward Pasquale, bringing Mediterranean pantry staples to a growing Canada.

1973

Sun-Brite Foods is established, specializing in canned tomato products — the beginning of a shared story.

1997

Sun-Brite Foods acquires Unico, returning the brand to family management and Canadian roots.

Today

160+ products across 11 categories, made and marketed from Unico's Concord, Ontario headquarters — still bringing real Mediterranean taste home.

What does "Unico" mean?

In Italian, unico means "unique." It's a fitting name for a brand built on distinctive products and the Mediterranean flavours that turn an everyday meal into something special.
